Key West doesn't have any RV camping on the island and the roads there are TINY. It would not have been enjoyable to drive our 33-ft RV around on the island, and I recommend avoiding bringing your RV to Key West at all. It's really easy to speed across the Keys.

Rates run from $4 per hour, day or night or $32 for 24 hours. The lot is open from 8.00am until midnight, and although it is the ideal Key West parking space for cars, bikes, small trucks and vans, once again RV's, buses and campers are not.

The Definition of Dry Camping

Dry camping, also known as boondocking, involves camping in an RV, van or motorhome with no hookups (no electricity or water) outside of a traditional campground. Dry campers set up camp on public lands as well as private places (with the permission of the owner), usually for free.

Today, the family tradition continues 55 years later with three generations of the Hamilton family involved in the daily operations of the campground.

V-4113 on Sigsbee Park. The campground consists of 93 full hook-up sites and over 500 dry and camping sites on Sigsbee Park and Trumbo Point. The Trumbo Point area is only open seasonally: mid-October through April.

It's against the law to sleep on the ground or in a vehicle anywhere in the state of Florida unless you are registered in a campsite. Or you will get a free ride to spend the night on a hard bunk behind bars.

Boondocking is a term used by RVers to describe RVing without being connected to water, electric, or sewer. Because you're not connected to any services it's also called dry camping. Other terms you might see that all refer to boondocking are free camping and wild camping.Oct 29, 2018

City ordinances forbid overnight parking on city streets, parks and beaches. It also forbids RVs in excess of 20 feet in length or seven feet in width from parking on city streets; these vehicles may park in designated parking lots, but not for overnight.

Full hookups are limited in the national park system, but this doesn't mean you can't camp and enjoy the benefits of being close to nature. Be prepared to dry camp, and take the family on a few practice runs beforehand.
