If you're looking for a rowdier atmosphere, recent travelers recommend sticking to the southern end of Ocean City, where the neighboring boardwalk makes for great people-watching and seafront dining.

The resort area now accommodates hundreds of thousands of vacationers a year. Ocean City now extends just over 9 miles (~15 km) from the southern inlet to the Delaware line.

The boardwalk starts at the southern end of the city (which is bounded by the Ocean City Inlet) and extends north to 32nd Street. North of 32nd, Coastal Highway travels through the city and is strewn with shops, hotels and restaurants.

The Travel Channel called our classic wooden boardwalk America's best. National Geographic named it one of the top 10 in the U.S. And USA Today named it one of the nation's best boardwalks for food. In short, it's three miles of highly concentrated fun - and one more reason to vacation in OCMD.

Adding to Ocean City's family image is the fact that it's a “dry” town, meaning there is no alcohol of any kind sold within its borders. However, alcohol is available in nearby Strathmere.

The beach and Boardwalk in Ocean City are open to visitors. As with previous years, we do not encourage anyone to go into the ocean when lifeguards are not on duty.

Sleeping in any motor vehicle within the city limits of Ocean City is prohibited. Sleeping on the beach also is not allowed between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Ocean City is proud to be home to one of America's most popular and family-friendly boardwalks.

In Ocean City, we take laws related to alcohol consumption very seriously. Drinking alcoholic beverages in public is prohibited. This includes on any street, avenue, alleyway, sidewalk, beach, parking lot and vehicle in any of these areas. Possessing an open container of any alcoholic beverage in public is not allowed.

I found the Ocean City beaches to be nice and clean. Lifeguards seem to be on every beach but I'm not 100% sure of that. I like that the guards aren't using their ear piercing whistles ever five seconds like I've found on other beaches.

The Ocean City Boardwalk serves as the area's primary pedestrian artery and runs about 2 1/2 miles along the beach. Ocean City's original boardwalk, along with much of the city, burnt down in 1927.

What street does the boardwalk start - Ocean City Boardwalk. Starts around 28th street and goes into the inlet. If not staying at a hotel on the boardwalk and driving to the boardwalk it is cheaper to park a block or so away. The parking at the inlet can get very expensive .

4 answers. It goes about 25 blocks or so and the streets are numbered makes it easy our hotel was located on 22nd street I believe. over a year ago. Starts at 27th street at the tram station to buy tickets and ends at second street near the Ocean City Life Saving Museum.

Today, the Wildwoods Boardwalk has more than 70,000 wooden planks and stretches for nearly 2.5 miles. A 220-foot long, 30-foot high mural called the Whaling Wall, painted by world-renowned environmental artist Wyland, can be viewed at Garfield Avenue and the Boardwalk.
