Some of the most scenic and beautiful parts of Oahu are definitely outside of Waikiki & Honolulu. Ko'olina on the leeward west side is, in our opinion, the best area to get a more authentic resort experience, especially if you're looking to avoid some of the hustle/bustle of Waikiki.

With Kailua, Lanikai, Waimanalo beaches all white sand beaches, I think Oahu has the best. It is about a 6-7 mile stretch from Makapuu Beach to Kailua Beach. It is almost non-stop beaches with just a few interruptions. Lanikai Beach has the best powdery white sand in that stretch of beaches in the area.

While it's not as crystal clear as the waters of the Caribbean, it's still very tropical in nature and quite pretty. The water turns to a darker blue as you head into deeper waters. Hawaiian beaches are remarkably clean and maintenance keeps them in great conditions.
